Worcester councillor banned from tweeting in meeting

Mr Riaz said: "I was really upset, outraged my freedom of speech, my voice to the outside world was being stopped.
"This is not confidential information, it's important information of what's happening in the city of Worcester and decisions that are being taken that affect the whole city.
"It's important as councillors that we communicate this."
A city council spokesman said: "The mayor asked members to refrain from tweeting on this occasion, as the council was debating an important issue for which their full attention was needed.
"Worcester City Council actively encourages the use of Facebook and Twitter in the way we work, and recognises their value
A Worcester City councillor has complained after being told he could not tweet during an open meeting.
Councillor Jabba Riaz, who represents the Cathedral ward, was banned by the mayor, Dr David Tibbutt, from updating his micro-blog on Tuesday.Mr Riaz said he believed his freedom of speech had been infringed.
